Straight from the tea garden foothills of the Himalayas, Darjeeling comes to Molbani Tea Co. to brighten up your days! Often described as the champagne of teas, Darjeeling is known for its floral aroma and muscatel (light-sweetness) that make it the “Queen of Teas”. This tea gem uses tea graded as “Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe” (TGFOP), a grade given to more exemplary teas compared to other Indian tea grades, due to the young leaves being intact with a large portion of new tea buds included.

Darjeeling (know as the “thunderbolt spot” due to its region’s high frequency of thunderstorms) is home to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, part of India’s famous UNESCO World Heritage railway networks through the Himalayas. Opened in 1881 to allow transport of people and goods around Darjeeling’s beautiful, mountainous terrain, Darjeeling Tea may never have been as enjoyed as it is today without this famous railway.

Because of the railway’s importance, we have showcased the railway as the symbol of Darjeeling Tea Gems. We hope every cup brings you to this historic cultural marvel with every sip! Enjoy black, or add sugar and milk/milk alternatives to your taste.

Black Tea (Camellia Sinesis) – Very high in flavonoids and polyphenols, which act as antioxidants that can reduce the onset of some cancers. If consumed on a regular basis (one study cites 3x a day), studies show that black teas, like Darjeeling, can reduce the onset of cardiovascular disorders.
